The Divine Comedy just a click away: 100 cantos in 1-minute video pills.

With the project "Singing in a minute", Mondadori Education and Rizzoli Education have chosen Red Onion to make the Divine Comedy more accessible and engaging. We made 100 one-minute video pills, one for each song, designed to integrate with teaching and capture the attention of students through an immediate and dynamic visual language.

From the poem to the video-pill: the challenge of the project

The challenge was to transform Dante's masterpiece into a quick and clear digital format, without losing rigor and content. With "Singing in a minute", HUB School introduces an innovative way of learning, designed for the times and habits of today's students.

The creative strategy: "Singing in a minute"

The concept is based on three key elements:

  • Summary: each song is condensed into a 60" pill.
  • Animated iconography: circles, frames and spheres become simple and immediate visual images. Character design: Dante, Virgil and Beatrice have been redesigned in an animated key to accompany the story.

Production and workflow

To get to the final result, we have structured a scalable and consistent process:

  • Scripting and validation of texts in collaboration with the editorial team.
  • Modular storyboard to standardize the 100 episodes.
  • 2D animations with dynamic icons and overlay text to support comprehension.
  • Built-in accessibility: subtitles, visual contrast, and readable fonts.

Why it works

  • Engagement: short, visual pills capture students' attention.
  • Omnichannel: use on HUB School and YouTube.
  • Scalability: replicable format for other educational content.
  • Speed: standardized production but with high editorial care.

Deliverables

  • 100 videos "Singing in a minute"
  • Set of character designs for Dante, Virgil and Beatrice.
  • Modular iconography for narrative elements of the Comedy.
  • Templates adaptable to future educational projects.
